Entrepreneurship: Black Wall Street Black Business Expo Held In Atlanta

Black Wall Street held significant importance in Black history, yet it was often overlooked in school curricula. The Financial Literacy Institute Inc. (TFLI) shed light on this topic through their event, The Black Wall Street Black Business Expo. This full-day affair brought together experts to impart valuable insights for business owners, fostered networking opportunities, and showcased Mother Viola Fletcher, one of the last remaining survivors of Black Wall Street.

Jasmine Young, the Founder & President of TFLI, underscored the significance of comprehending history and harnessing economic influence for societal transformation. The Black Wall Street Black Business Expo was held on Saturday, June 1, at the Essence Venue in Atlanta, GA. Attendees engaged in discussions on group economics, corporate social responsibility, and consumer spending trends. By 2024, the expo had entered its third consecutive year. Young and her team placed particular emphasis on civic engagement, highlighting how a lack of involvement in political affairs had impeded the financial autonomy of local communities. TFLI utilized the narrative of Black Wall Street to elucidate the community's past struggles and potential future achievements.
