On Jan. 16, 2020, Global tech giant Microsoft announced what may be seem as one of the most ambitious environmental goals of any large corporation to date.
The company announced that they are working towards being carbon-negative by 2030. They also plan to remove all the carbon they have ever emitted into the environment—either directly or by electrical consumption since their founding in 1975, before the year 2050.
This technology required to achieve such an objective is either net level expensive or not widely available; and that’s why the company is also launching a $1 billion fund to develop climate technologies for the rest of the world.
