In case you missed it, a 26-year-old Nigerian named Max Chinnah has invented a portable and smokeless stove for cooking and charging phones. Chinnah and his Ghanaian partner invented the stove to prevent health hazards caused by stoves that produce smoke.
Chinnah is the son of an electrical engineer. Through a scholarship, he was able to go to Wartburg in 2011 where he grabbed a degree in Computer Science.
However, it was thanks to a trip to Clinton Global Initiative conference in Miami that the idea of pursuing an entrepreneurial journey surfaced.
Chinnah is conscious of the health hazards that result from cooking over open fires and also from commonly used stoves. As a measure to solve this problem, he has invented a smokeless stove.
According to Chinnah, the constant use of the open fires led to the death of his grandmother, who died of respiration ailment. His goal, therefore, is to avoid situations like this and to also help reduce the threat of global warming.
To achieve these goals, Chinnah, under his company Terraoak, is working with the World Wide Fund for Nature to give away 1,000 stoves to farmers in Kenya’s rural areas.
It is important to note that, the stove isn’t only used for cooking. The stove can also convert heat into electricity which allows users to charge phones through a USB port.
At this point in time, there are plans to distribute 1,000 pieces of the stove to rural Kenyan farmers A 26-year-old Nigerian Max Chinnah has made history as he has invented a smokeless stove that he patented with his partner, Attigah.
